...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MST THIS AFTERNOON FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE FRONT RANGE FOOTHILLS AND PARK COUNTY...

The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect until 5 PM MST this afternoon.

* Affected Area...Fire Weather Zones 214, 215, 216 and 238.

* Timing...Until 5 pm this afternoon.

* Winds...West 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

* Relative Humidity...As low as 8 percent.

* Impacts...Any fires that develop are likely to spread rapidly. Outdoor burning should be avoided, as well as any activities that may cause sparks.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
