Summary of Wildfire Emergency InformationDecember 30, 2021, 9:19 PM Alert
The two fires, Middle Fork Fire and Marshall Fire, started in the late morning. The first fire, called the Middle Fork fire, was reported just before 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of North Foothills Hwy. and Middle Fork Road. Crews were able to contain the Middle Fork Fire later in the day, and resources were reallocated to the Marshall Fire.
The Marshall Fire was reported just after 11 a.m. at South Foothills Hwy. and Marshall Road. Over the course of the day, the fire grew exponentially due to extreme wind conditions and spread east.

Please DO NOT enter the #MarshallFire evacuated areas (see map). It is still unsafe for residents to enter the area. Not only are there active hot spots, but there are also downed power lines and trees at risk of falling, a risk that will increase once the snow arrives. It’s essential for everyone’s safety and for the integrity of the fire investigation that everyone remain out of the restricted areas for now. First responders are working to secure the area to allow residents to check on their homes as soon as possible. We promise we are working as quickly as possible to allow residents back in. However, please do NOT enter the closed evacuation areas. This not only puts you in danger, it takes resources away from our emergency responders and further hinders the work we are doing to extinguish hot spots, search the area, assess damaged properties and conduct our fire investigation.

XCel Energy:There is a BOIL WATER order in effect for: Town of Superior, City of Louisville, San Souci Mobile Home Park, East Boulder County Water District, Eldorado Artesian Spring water users. Please see the information below.
You should not drink any tap water without boiling it per the instructions below.
If your local health officials issue a boil water advisory, you should use bottled water or boil tap water. This is because a boil water advisory means your community’s water has, or could have, germs that can make you sick.
Advisories may include information about preparing food, drinks, or ice; dishwashing; and hygiene, such as brushing teeth and bathing. Boil water advisories usually include this advice:
Use bottled or boiled water for drinking, and to prepare and cook food.
If bottled water is not available, bring water to a full rolling boil for 1 minute (at elevations above 6,500 feet, boil for 3 minutes). After boiling, allow the water to cool before use.
Boil tap water even if it is filtered (for example, by a home water filter or a pitcher that filters water).
Do not use water from any appliance connected to your water line, such as ice and water from a refrigerator.
Breastfeeding is the best infant feeding option. If you formula feed your child, provide ready-to-use formula, if possible.
Handwashing
In many cases, you can use tap water and soap to wash hands during a boil water advisory. Follow the guidance from your local public health officials.
Be sure to scrub your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Then, rinse them well under running water.
If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
Bathing and showering
Be careful not to swallow any water when bathing or showering.
Use caution when bathing babies and young children. Consider giving them a sponge bath to reduce the chance of them swallowing water.
Brushing teeth
Brush teeth with boiled or bottled water. Do not use tap water that you have not boiled first.
Washing dishes
If possible, use disposable plates, cups, and utensils during a boil water advisory.
Household dishwashers generally are safe to use if:
The water reaches a final rinse temperature of at least 150 degrees Fahrenheit (66°Celsius), or
The dishwater has a sanitizing cycle.
Sanitize all baby bottles.
To wash dishes by hand:
Wash and rinse the dishes as you normally would using hot water.
In a separate basin, add 1 teaspoon of unscented household liquid bleach for each gallon of warm water.
Soak the rinsed dishes in the water for at least one minute.
Let the dishes air dry completely before using again.
Laundry
It is safe to wash clothes as usual.
Cleaning
Clean washable toys and surfaces with:
Bottled water,
Boiled water, or
Water that has been disinfected with bleach.
Caring for pets
Pets can get sick from some of the same germs as people or spread germs to people. Give pets bottled water or boiled water that has cooled.
Boulder OEM 25m agoAs crews continue work today to restore service to customers impacted by yesterday’s extremely high winds and wildfires, Xcel Energy would like to encourage Superior and Louisville customers to take steps to protect their plumbing as temperatures drop once the evacuation order is lifted and you are able to return to your home, as it will likely be several days before natural gas service can be restored to all customers in those communities. Xcel Energy has also added a second location at which residents can pick up a space heater to help warm their homes. Read more at spr.ly/6185J4RaJ .
To pick up an electric heater, please stop by the Red Cross shelter at YMCA in Lafayette at 2800 Dagny Way, or at the Boulder YWCA at 2222 14th St. between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
