...PROLONGED PERIOD OF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS...

.Strong northerly flow aloft and a drier airmass will bring critical fire weather conditions through at least Wednesday, and likely into Thursday. While there will be a slight decrease in winds and bump in humidity overnight tonight, strong winds and low humidity can again be expected on Wednesday. Similar conditions will likely occur on Thursday. Winds should subside somewhat by Friday, but breezy conditions and low humidity can still be expected.

...RED FLAG WARNING WILL EXPIRE AT 9 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 238 THROUGH 251...

* Affected Area...Fire Weather Zones 238, 239, 240, 241, 242, 243, 244, 245, 246, 247, 248, 249, 250 and 251.

* Timing...Wednesday 9 AM until 9 pm.

* Winds...Northwest 25 to 40 mph, with gusts of 55 to 65 mph east of a Greeley to Limon line.

* Relative Humidity...As low as 11 percent.

* Impacts...Any fire that develops will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning should be avoided, as well as any activity that may produce a spark and start a fast moving wildfire.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
