...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 230 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of central Colorado, including the following county, Park.

* WHEN...Until 230 PM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

- At 1255 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen.

- This includes the following streams and drainages... North Fork South Platte River, Guernsey Creek, Craig Creek, Shutetown Creek, Geneva Creek, Kenosha Creek, Smith Creek and Rock Creek.

- Some locations that will experience flooding include...Grant, Santa Maria and Singleton.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause minor flooding of creeks and streams, roads and roadside culverts. The heavy rains could also trigger rock slides or debris flows in steep terrain.
