OSMP Rangers are evacuating visitors from trails on Mount Sanitas. We are asking that anyone who is hiking on Mt. Sanitas area to leave the area now.

Edit to add: there's also a structure fire on Sunshine that is separate from the wildland fire (thus the effort to rename the wildland fire #SanitasFire, but some are still referring to it as the #SunshineWildlandFire).

Per fire management, the fire had no, to little growth overnight. Firefighters have increased their containment number to 40%. We will receive an updated fire size after an multi-mission flight conducts a flyover. There are 60 firefighters working on the fire this morning. Winds are forecast to remain light through the daytime, which should help with firefighting efforts. #SunshineWildlandFire
