...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR SOUTH PARK, THE SOUTHERN FOOTHILLS, PALMER DIVIDE, AND EASTERN PLAINS...

The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from noon to 7 PM MDT Wednesday. A Fire Weather Watch has also been issued. This Fire Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity is in effect from Thursday afternoon through Thursday evening. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* Affected Area...Fire Weather Zones 216, 241, 246 and 247.

* Timing...Wednesday 12 PM MDT until 7 PM MDT Wednesday evening.

* Winds...Southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

* Relative Humidity...As low as 9 percent.

* Impacts...Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activities that may produce sparks.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings.
