Red Flag Warning and Stage 1 Fire Ban Issued for Park County Today, July 6 from 2 - 8 PM
Park County, CO - The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Park County from 2 PM to 8 PM today, indicating a high risk of fire danger. This warning comes as a result of the high winds and low humidity that are expected in the area. According to the National Weather Service Alert, the combination of these weather conditions can create "extreme fire behavior" and increase the risk of wildfires.
Residents and visitors are urged to take extra precautions during this time!
The county is also in a Stage 1 Fire Ban from 2 - 8 PM today. As a reminder, per Park County’s Open Fire and Burning ordinance, prohibited "open fire" or "open burning" includes any outdoor fire, including but not limited to, campfires, bonfires, hotwork, except welding, the use of explosives, fireworks of all kinds or brands, and the prescribed burning of fence lines or rows, fields, rangelands, wildlands, trash, and debris. The ordinance applies throughout unincorporated Park County, including all public, private, and applicable state and federal lands.
