Cathedral Fire: Wildland fire near Cathedral Spires

North Fork Fire, Elk Creek Fire, and other agencies are responding to a substantial smoke plume near Cathedral Spires. Original reporting party sighted it from Conifer and placed it northwest of Cathedral Spires. Early estimate is half an acre in size.

Incident command: Multi-Mission Aircraft (MMA) is requested to confirm boundaries and no other spot fires in the area due to lightning that occurred in the past couple of days.

Location 39 degrees 25.477 by -105 degrees 14.60

Estimated 1/4 acre, smoldering and creeping in grass and shrub understory, significant dead fall around. No structures threatened.

Continue in all additional resources, stage all but Elk Creek Fire engines 459 and 451.

Incident update: Flame lengths 6 inches, fuel aspect light. Cause of the fire is lightning. Hazards are snags, potential winds, difficult access, lightning. Low spread potential.

Fire is stopped at this time, estimated containment is 1800 hours (6pm).
