The fire name has been updated to Rolling Creek Fire. There is no official containment reported yet, but per a resident with a view of the fire who sent us a video, he says for the past 10 minutes he has seen little to no smoke.
There have already been TWO WILDFIRES in area districts this morning:
• Rolling Creek Fire in Platte Canyon Fire Protection District
• Flying G Fire in the Conifer Fire West District / North Fork Fire Rescue area
The Rolling Creek Fire, located just north of the Wellington Lake area, was stopped at 1.3 acres. Multiple agencies, including Platte Canyon Fire, Conifer Fire, Elk Creek Fire / Conifer Wildland Division, and the U.S. Forest Service, worked together to contain this very wind-driven fire under extremely challenging conditions. Firefighters faced aggressive winds and trees falling in the area while working to stop the fire’s forward progression, as seen in
the video we posted to Facebook.
The Flying G Fire was quickly contained at approximately 0.25 acres. Individuals from Camp Ramah were also on scene, and the districts are grateful for their assistance in helping stop the fire’s spread.
Thank you to all agencies and partners for the strong, coordinated response.
