Bruno Gulch Fire update, 06/24/2026 3:30 p.m.
Size: 1.5 acres
Location: Off County Road 62 about 7 miles north of Grant, Colorado in Park County.
Cause: Under investigation
Containment: 20%
Personnel: Current responding resources include U.S. Forest Service, Park County and Platte Canyon Fire Protection District. Additional air support includes one Type-3 helicopter with Monument Helitack and one type-2 Helicopter with Douglas County.
Fire behavior: Moderate fire behavior and spread in grassy, brush and timber understory fuels. The fire is in steep and rugged terrain.
Smoke: Smoke will be visible from the Highway 285, Grant and the surrounding areas. Crews will continue actively suppressing the fire and smoke will remain visible throughout the night and into tomorrow morning.
Evacuations: The Bruno Gulch Campground, along with an approximately one-half mile radius surrounding the campground, is under a mandatory evacuation, per the Park County Sheriff’s office.
Tactics: The U.S. Forest Service took over command of this fire on June 24, 2026 at 1:55 p.m. Firefighters are fully suppressing the Bruno Gulch Wildfire. Crews are on the ground while helicopters are dropping tactical water drops to slow forward progress. Fire crews are actively working on a direct attack with hand line construction. The fire is currently estimated to be fully contained by tomorrow, June 25, at 2:00 p.m.
