Vegetation Fire at Wellington Lake

Conifer Fire West is responding to a reported vegetation fire caused by a lightning strike at Wellington Lake, CR 68 and FS 860. Elk Creek Fire and Evergreen Fire are requested for mutual aid, Conifer Fire East is on standby.

Platte Canyon Fire crews are also en route.

Multiple reporting parties report seeing flames. At least one tree on fire. Firefighters report heavy storms with lightning.

From Platte Canyon Fire:

8:56pm crews on scene, confirmed wildfire.
Per command they have a visual on the fire, and will need to hike into the fire.
Fire name: 68 Fire
Initial size-up: active fire, 1/4 of acre, 5'-7' flame lengths, possibly burning in a slash pile.
Jurisdiction, will confirm either,
U.S. Forest Service - PSICC National Forest vs private lands.
Multiple agencies enroute,
FYI @nffpd Conifer West FD also dispatched to a wildfire in the area, unknown at this time if it's the same fire.

From Platte Canyon Fire:

9:43pm update, all additional resources in staging have been released. Fire remains contained, resources on scene will continue monitoring the fire at this time.

9:26pm update, per 68 Fire command, crews on scene of the fire, they do have a slash pile burning. Dozer line was previously in place around the pile. The fire is contained at this time. Agencies not on scene have been stood down.
