THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DENVER HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT
UNTIL 3 AM MST WEDNESDAY. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NO LONGER
IN EFFECT.
* TIMING...SNOW WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES THROUGH THIS
EVENING...BEFORE DECREASING LATER TONIGHT. THERE MAY EVEN BE
ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS LEADING TO SNOWFALL RATES UP TO 3 INCHES
IN ONE HOUR.
* ACCUMULATION/WIND...SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE FROM 6 TO 12
INCHES...WITH LOCAL HIGHER AMOUNTS TO 15 INCHES ALONG NORTH AND
WEST FACING SLOPES. NORTHWEST TO WEST WINDS 20 TO 30 MPH WILL
OCCUR WITH GUSTS TO 60 MPH OVER EXPOSED RIDGES.
* IMPACTS...BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WILL CAUSE ROADS TO BE
SNOWPACKED AND SLICK...ESPECIALLY OVER THE HIGHER MOUNTAIN
PASSES. IN ADDITION...THE BLOWING SNOW WILL REDUCE
VISIBILITIES TO LESS THAN A QUARTER OF A MILE AT TIMES.
