Another storm bites the dust, a very unfortunate trend this year. There may be a few flurries this afternoon, but no accummulation expected. Fog and low clouds persisting on the Plains and into the foothills up to between 8000-9000 ft should begin to lift later this afternoon and evening as westerly flow aloft becomes stronger. There could be some gusty westerly winds tonight into Wednesday morning as strong northwest winds aloft aid an increasing surface pressure gradient with High pressure building over western CO and a developing Low over the central Plains. Wind speeds could be in the 25-50 mph range.
For the remainder of the week, temps should warm to above seasonal norms, and breezy westerly winds at times, mostly during the overnight and early morning hours Thursday and Friday. Two very weak upper level disturbances will pass across CO. the first will pass on Friday and bring a chance for light snow to the northwest mountains, and bring slightly cooler temps across northern CO on Saturday as a weak cold front drags south. The next disturbance will pass CO on Sunday and again bring a chance for snow to the mountains west of the Divide. At this time, no snow expected for the foothills for the next 5-7 days. Long range progs are not very optimistic for a snowy March for us, but it only takes one storm to bring a significant amount of moisture to the area, so we can keep hoping.
Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!
