A brief respite today and tonight from the strong to hurricane force winds from yesterday and last night. Over the next 7-10 days there will be a series of Pacific systems that will affect CO. The first system will approach CO Thursday and bring snow to the mountains west of the Divide during the day, with the snow level from 6000-7000 ft. Southwest winds ahead of the system will increase and cause high fire danger during the afternoon for the foothills and Plains. As the cold front passes through Thursday afternoon, a few showers or flurries are possible along the foothills and adjacent Plains, but nothing that would be likely to accumulate. Snow level will be 8000-9000 ft in the foothills.

The next system is right on the heels and will approach CO Friday bringing more snow to the mountains west of the Divide above 6000-7000 ft, and more gusty southwest winds across the foothills and Plains during the day. Another chance for brief showers or flurries Friday afternoon and evening in the foothills wth snow level 8000-9000 in the afternoon, lowering to 6500-7500 by evening. Again little if any accumulation expected for the foothills.

Saturday should be cool and breezy for the foothills, with some mountain snow west of the Divide. The next system has better potential to bring more significant moisture to the foothills and Plains on Sunday and Monday. Models still struggling to come into agreement, but latest runs show a system digging to our south finally, which could produce some upslope and decent snow during the day on Sunday. Snow level looks to be between 6000 and 7000 ft during the day, lowering to 5000 ft by Monday morning. Majority of snow looks to be Sunday, but additional snow could fall during the day on Monday as well. This means Monday commute could be messy. Models will likely have some changes with this system, so forecast will likely change. The system has the potential to become a more serious storm, so stay tuned for further updates.

According to the long range models, another system could affect Co next Wednesday as well with additional snow into the foothills. The rest of next weeks currently looks dry and mild.

I will be leaving on vacation Thursday so may not be able to provide additional updates through the end of next week. I'm sure SpazCat and RyFly will keep everyone updated.

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!
