Conifer parks/rec election sees heavy turnout - The Flume

Turnout has been heavy Tuesday at West Jefferson Elementary School in Conifer, and the wait was 45 minutes at times for people to vote on whether there should be a formation of a new parks and recreation district in the Conifer area, and, if so, who the board members should be.
Election Official Sue Blair, of Community Resource Services, said the turnout was much larger than expected. Several people left, saying they would be back later to vote. Blair added that the results may not be available until 11 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, and possibly later. She said the results will be posted on the front door of the elementary school as soon as they are known. The Flume will post the results on its Web site, www.theflume.com, as soon as they are available. An election photo is already there.
