Dawn Caudill, a Littleton woman who gained notoriety when she took video of Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener in July 2010 and put it up on YouTube, pleaded guilty on Sept. 26 to driving under the influence of marijuana and received a deferred sentence and probation. Details in this week's Flume.

Zanax: Alprazolam is used to treat anxiety disorders and panic disorder (sudden, unexpected attacks of extreme fear and worry about these attacks). Alprazolam is in a class of medications called benzodiazepines. It works by decreasing abnormal excitement in the brain.

Not surprisingly, marijuana intoxication can cause distorted perceptions, impaired coordination, difficulty with thinking and problem solving, and problems with learning and memory. Research has shown that, in chronic users, marijuana's adverse impact on learning and memory can last for days or weeks after the acute effects of the drug wear off.2 As a result, someone who smokes marijuana every day may be functioning at a suboptimal intellectual level all of the time.
