The candidates for fire chief of the Elk Creek Fire Protection District have been narrowed to two, and the fire district board has appointed new board member Greg Branch to replace Tim Biglen, who resigned under recall pressure.
The chief selection committee will give the district board its recommendation for one of the two fire chief candidates at a special meeting scheduled for Jan. 31 at 7:30 p.m.
The two candidates under consideration are former Breckenridge-based Red, White and Blue Fire Chief Gary Green, who resigned in June 2011, and Bill McLaughlin, a Bellingham, Wash., resident who was the Whatcom Fire District 4 chief until September 2011. Details in this week's Flume.
