Avalanche danger reduced, but still ‘considerable’ - Flume

A week ago, the avalanche danger throughout western Colorado and the Front Range was "severe." It has since been downgraded to "considerable," but there is still danger in the high country. Between Jan. 22 and Jan. 30, six avalanches were reported within and near Park County boundaries.

A slide on the east face of Loveland Mountain in Buckskin Gulch, four miles from Alma, caught a hiker on Jan. 29, burying the hiker's left side, left leg and (partially) burying the left arm.
Details in this week's Flume.
