Park County Historical Society Dinner and History Presentation

The Park County Historical Society is hosting a Dinner and History Presentation on Saturday, March 10th from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Platte Canyon Community Center in Shawnee. This $5.00 dinner is open to the public. It will be a St. Patty’s Day theme with Irish Stew, corned beef and cabbage, coffee and dessert. Water and soda will be available for a small fee.

FYI - Local author and photographer Bernie Nagy will be attending the fundraiser on March 10th. He will have his books available for $29.95 each. If you purchase both, the price is $56.00 (includes taxes). He will donate $10.00 from each purchase to the Park County Historical Society.

For now it looks like the weather is going to permit so we hope to see many of you there!

Hello 285Bound viewers!

Last nights fundraiser was the best ever! Nearly 80 people attended and we ran out of food! The Rustic Station contributed a crock pot of elk stew and there were 3 others. Corned beef and cabbage, lots of veggies, zucchini bread, Irish scones, cookies, jello, fruit salad, cake, pie, coffee, soda and water.

Bernie and Linda Nagy, who as of last night are now PC Historical Society members, were there selling and autographing their books. We sold two. We also sold one Engine #9 Train video.

The best of the best was the presentation by Kenn Hicks. He did an awesome job! The building of the Robert's tunnel is truly amazing! Two people video taped it so it will also be on a DVD soon. There will be a second presentation on the Roberts tunnel in the near future. With our attendance growing we are going to need a bigger facility to accommodate these events.

The next event is scheduled for Sunday, April 15. YUP...TAX day! Same place...same time. I'll let everyone know soon what our topic will be. It will be an Easter theme.

Thank you!

I loved the old-time theme of this summary video of the meeting - great job to whomever shot and edited it!

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

Roger Christenson and Craig Christenson (not related) both video taped the event. Roger edited his version and yup - he did a marvelous job on what he put on YouTube! Kudo's to Roger!
