Crews were working Sunday afternoon to recover a body discovered Saturday in the Ajax Mine near Alma.
Park County Coroner David Kintz Jr. said a crew of about 30 people had been attempting to make it to the mine Sunday to recover the body and conduct an investigation.
Kintz, who was hiking to the scene on Sunday when he was contacted by The Flume, said he wouldn't release the identity of the victim at the time, but he confirmed that the victim was a man from Park County.
The man had been up there actively mining, Kintz said.
