May 19th, Armed Forces Day, 2012. Very important day for Veterans, active duty, Reserves, National Guard etc and their families. The 285 Community Veterans Coalition(of which I am a board member) is again doing a Veterans Day Fair, located at Beaver Ranch (Conifer Community Park). Various blood testing etc, will be available to Veterans active duty, Reserves and National Guard for free. Simple requirements are bring some form of proof that you are a Veteran regardless of where you served, ID card works, VFW card works, American Legion card works, DD214, copies of orders with photo ID works etc. We will be serving a small breakfast for those Veterans, will have stuff for the families also. WOMEN VETERANS ARE INVITED ALSO, we will have Women's Veterans services reps present also. We encourage Women Veterans to attend, you served also. The Veterans Adminstration, DAV, Purple Heart Assoc, VFW, American Legion, and many others will be present. Food vendors will be on site that family members can purchase food, plus plenty of questions and answers on benefits etc will be available. For the military member, if you are not in the VA system, you can sign up that day. For the blood testing fasting is required upon completion of the blood draws, you will get a free small breakfast.
We will be placing posters etc out. This day is all about taking care of our own. Those that have served or are serving knows that meaning all to well.
