~ Free Veterans services – mobile veterans center; health screening; county, state and national service providers; Veterans and family information services; summer conservation jobs.

Email reminder from the Conifer Area Council:

Please join us this Wednesday April 18 for our next Town Hall Meeting. We are starting early this time – 6:30 PM!

Formal presentations will take place between 6:45 and 8:00 PM. Speakers who will discuss the Lower North Fork Fire include State of Colorado Department of Natural Resources Director Mike King (representing the Governor’s Office), Jeffco Sheriff Ted Mink and Elk Creek Fire Protection District Chief Bill McLaughlin. Local community and other speakers will cover the remaining topics.

Representatives from the following, among others, will be at the Open House segments before (6:30 til 6:45 PM) and after (8:00 – 9 PM) the formal presentations:

● Colorado Dept of Regulatory Agencies (DORA)
● Jefferson County, including Administration, Sheriff’s Office and Animal Control
● Jefferson Conservation District
● Mountain Area Land Trust
● Mountain Peace Shelter
● Mountain Resource Center
● Animal EVAC Volunteers

What's being done? Prescribed fire review. Ban on state fires until everything done to prevent this from happening again. Must undergo protocol review.
Changing accountability will eventually go to governor.

Issues with coordinating with other 285 corridor fire depts - communication a big issue
Need better maps, bigger picture communication in addition to taking care of assigned area
Working with sheriff dept to make evacuations better/more effective or efficient - moving to 3 level evac system.

Level One means be ready (like pre-evac). Voluntary, livestock, elderly, people with health issues should go ahead and
Level Two means leave soon, all residents. Start packing pets, photos, etc.
Level Three means go immediately, danger to your area imminent.

Pre-planning will involve meeting with individual neighborhoods to plan evac routes, coordination.
Better mitigation of homes.
