A bill passed by both the Colorado House and Senate will require elementary schools to provide reading instruction and put interventions in place when a student is identified as having a reading deficiency. If a student is not reading at grade level, the decision may be made to have the student repeat a grade, known as retention. But principals at Park County elementary schools in Bailey and Fairplay already have many of the provisions in place and don’t see much changing under the bill, known as House Bill 12-1238. Details in this week's Flume.
