An update on the Springer fire, 3.5 miles from Lake George in southeastern Park County, indicates that as of about 9:30 a.m. Friday, containment of the fire had increased to 57 percent, compared with 39 percent as of about 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
In addition, the update, found at the InciWeb website (

) states that the amount of forest consumed by the fire remained at 1,145 acres, the same number as Thursday and Wednesday.
The fire started on Sunday, June 17, at about noon.
The update states that full containment is estimated for Sunday, June 24. The cost to date of the fire is $2.1 million.
