George Zack from Broomfield won the 29.5-mile 64th Annual World Championship Pack Burro Race in Fairplay on July 29 with a time of 5:25:28. He was followed by Hal Walter from Westcliffe with a time of 5:55:04. As of 5:10 p.m. the third-place finisher was still an estimated 30 minutes from the finish line.
