The Park County Sheriff’s Office and Platte Canyon firefighters were fighting a small fire Thursdday evening just below the Santa Maria statue at Camp Santa Maria south of Shawnee, according to a press release from the Park County Sheriff’s Office emailed at 6 p.m. Thursday.
The firefighting efforts are taking place in the context of recent fire restrictions being imposed in Park County and surrounding areas and wildfires being tackled in several areas of the state.
