Fuel Wood Sale Begins on August 19
On August 19, 2013, Jeffco Open Space will begin to sell Fuel Wood Permits for logs from forest management activities at Flying J Ranch and White Ranch Parks.
The Open Space Fuel Wood program provides low-cost wood to our community while assisting in the forest management of our parks. The logs are in large piles next to service roads within the parks. Permits will be available at the Jeffco Open Space offices, 700 Jefferson County Parkway, Suite 100, Golden, CO during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Cost
$25 for a standard pickup truck or trailer 6 to 8 feet in length (trailer length limited due to narrow roads and limited turning radius)
$20 for compact trucks
Payment accepted by personal check or cash. No credit cards. Checks must be made payable to Jefferson County Treasurer.
Fuel Wood Sale Tips
Four-wheel drive vehicles are required for wood pickup at White Ranch Park and recommended for Flying J Ranch Park.
Unredeemed permits will not be refunded.
Limit four (4) permits to a customer.
Permits cover a two hour window for pickup on weekend days (8-10 a.m., 10-noon, noon-2 p.m., 2-4 p.m.)
Entry to the pickup sites will close daily at 3 p.m.
Permit holders must provide their own chainsaws to cut the logs into fuel wood lengths.
There are no power sources at the fuel wood sales for electric chainsaws.

Flying J Ranch Park, Conifer: Saturday, September 7 and Sunday, September 8
White Ranch Park, north of Golden:
Saturday, September 14
Sunday, September 15
Saturday, September 21
Sunday, September 22
Permits will be sold for additional weekends at White Ranch Park until wood supplies are depleted, demand drops, or weather inhibits access.
