Former Fairplay man pleads guilty of defrauding customers

A former Fairplay man accused of defrauding customers who ordered coins from his businesses – Superior Discount Coins and Gold Run Investments – pleaded guilty Sept. 12 to one count of mail fraud and one count of failing to file an income tax return.
James P. Burg was indicted by a federal grand jury in November for a $2.4 million scheme in which he promised to purchase gold coins as investments for customers, but instead he used the money for his own benefit. Details at The Flume's website at www.theflume.com
