A former Fairplay man accused of defrauding customers who ordered coins from his businesses – Superior Discount Coins and Gold Run Investments – pleaded guilty Sept. 12 to one count of mail fraud and one count of failing to file an income tax return.
James P. Burg was indicted by a federal grand jury in November for a $2.4 million scheme in which he promised to purchase gold coins as investments for customers, but instead he used the money for his own benefit. Details at The Flume's website at
