Contact person: Meghan Vickers, 720-497-7650

Rocky Mountain ghost towns are filled with chilling but captivating stories. Join us at the Timbervale Barn, adjacent to Hiwan Homestead Museum, on Saturday, May 17 at 1:00 PM to learn about the ghost of Annabelle Stark who is believed to haunt the town of St. Elmo, Colorado, and the saga of Horace Tabor of Leadville, CO, who was the fifth richest man in the country in the 1890s but died a pauper, shoveling dirt for $0.65 cents a day. Presented by Preethi Burkholder, “Ghost Towns of the Rockies” is a colorful, photographic presentation encompassing the Rocky Mountains of Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico and Arizona. Ms. Burkholder’s presentation is derived from the knowledge she acquired while writing the guidebook Ghost Towns of the Rockies.

Advance registration is required; tickets are $10 per person. Please call the Museum at 720-497-7650 for registration or information. Checks should be made out to the Jefferson County Historical Society (JCHS) and mailed to the Museum at 4208 S. Timbervale Drive, Evergreen, CO 80439.
