I would like to ask each of you (and please invite friends) to join me on Sunday April 27th, at Aspen Peak Winery between 3-4:30 PM for a glass of "Purple Toes" or whichever beverage you prefer and start a plan to recruit a new President, Leadership Team and members to continue the 285 Optimist Club in year 4 and for many years to come.
I confidently believe that the success of this club is vital to inspiring many children to grow up with a positive vision for the future, who otherwise might not. Thanks to Marcel's determination and our Lt. Governor's tenacity, we were finally able to get the Essay Contest off the ground. Nine children wrote on the subject "How Dreams Can Impact the World!" One of those essays is currently in consideration for a $2,500 scholarship. This child will also receive a gift certificate for DW's 285 Diner (compliments of the owner) as our gift for being our club's winner. This child (and family) will also be invited to join us and read the winning essay to us.
If at all possible, please save the afternoon (or even just 60-90 minutes) of April 27th to join us to celebrate what we've done so far and give your input on how we can get the club on track.
Please respond at this link and let me know if you can join us (or not)... it's not for me, it's for the kids!
