Some heroes are almost invisible while giving their time, sweat and love to the community. Daniel Imming, 73, was one of those heroes. And when he died in a van accident near the Pine Butte Guest Ranch in Choteau, Mont., he was giving again.
Imming was driving a van for The Nature Conservatory, 16 miles west of Choteau, with seven other passengers when it went off the left side of the road, slid down a ditch on its side and ended up top-down in a creek.
Teton County Sheriff Keith Van Setten reported that all of the passengers were taken to area hospitals and then released. The sheriff’s office is investigating if a medical condition caused the crash.
Two years ago Imming became active in programs at the Choteau ranch, engaging in kitchen duties, painting, preparing cookouts and driving guests on tours.
It was on one of those tours when the accident occurred.
