Micky Downare returned to his home in Hartsel as a three-time state champion title holder as he was crowned the 2014 Colorado Pro Rodeo Association (CPRA) bareback riding champion at the conclusion of the 39th CPRA Finals held in Grand Junction Sept. 12-14.

In addition to the year-end championship, Downare spurred his way to receive the finals championship with 239 aggregate points to be awarded with a trophy belt buckle and also achieved the high-point ride of the finals with an 82-point ride aboard H and H Rodeo Company’s bucking horse, “Wagon’s Ho,” in the third go-round. His efforts were paid-off with a trophy headstall.

“It was all a nice accomplishment for the year. There were tough bareback riders to go up against and it all (average contest) came to the last day, where I drew a nice horse to get it done,” he said.
