Guffey Community Charter School Principal Pam Moore announced at the monthly school board meeting Dec. 10, that due to so many students out sick with the flu, the school would be closed Dec. 11. Since the school is always closed on Fridays, that left a long weekend for the germs to clear out, added Moore. The county nurse supported the closing.
In fact, so many students have been out sick, the school’s annual winter program scheduled for Dec. 18, a production of the classic Charlotte’s Web, has been postponed until the spring program in May, said Moore. The winter program will feature holiday songs, sing alongs and holiday cheer instead.
The school will be on winter break Dec. 18 through Jan. 5.
