An ongoing conflict among the board members of South Park Seniors, Inc. resulted in the removal of the board president Roger Wright and then the formation of two groups of board members, each claiming to be the lawful directors of the organization.

At a special meeting held Dec. 3, a majority of the board dismissed Wright from his duties as president.

Vice president Virginia Leigner was installed as acting president. Wright does not recognize this appointment.

The meeting was held by telephone. Wright, Leigner, Treasurer Bruce Hopmeier, Secretary Margaret Purnell and board members Tony Giebler, Bernice Hopmeier and Wright’s wife Ann participated in the conference call.

According to the SPS, Inc. bylaws, a special meeting can be called by the president or three or more members of the board. Emails were mailed out to all board members announcing the special meeting. The bylaws allow meetings to be conducted by telephone.
