Join us for Dinner With 9 News' Gary Shapiro
January 16th, 2015 at 6pm
Gary will talk about
“Jews in the News in Colorado”

We will start the evening out with an open bar and drinks, followed by short Kabbalat Shabbat Services. This is
followed by Kiddush and a buffet dinner that is accompanied by a lecture by Gary Shapiro and a question and answer session. Dessert is then Served. Services and buffet for kids are held concurrently.

Suggested donation: $25 per person, $10 child (12 or under).

About Gary Shapiro

Gary Shapiro joined 9NEWS in 1983, as the Boulder Bureau reporter. In 1989 he became the anchor of 9NEWS Daybreak, 9NEWS 6 a.m. and 9NEWS at noon.

Gary is originally from Nebraska and earned his degree in broadcast journalism at the University of Nebraska. He also has a Masters of Science in mass communications from Iowa State University. His broadcast career has taken him from Kearney, Nebraska to Omaha, Des Moines, and Wichita.

Besides his anchoring and reporting duties at 9NEWS, Gary has produced a number of TV specials and documentaries, including an in-depth report on the Five Points neighborhood in Denver. He also produced a year-long look at the U.S. Air Force Academy called "Wild Blue U" and a documentary on Denver's longest street, called "On Colfax." Gary traveled to Italy and Poland to do a documentary on Pope John Paul II, before the pontiff's visit to Denver in 1993.

Gary has won numerous awards, including regional Emmys, Best of Gannett, and awards from the Colorado Broadcaster's Association. He also won the coveted 1992 Edward R. Murrow award for documentary reporting.

Gary lives in the metro area with his wife Katie, two children, Rachel and Connor, and dog Marley. He loves biking, skiing, and sleeping (especially since he's on the morning shift)!
