After Sheriff Fred Wegener was sworn in for his next term Jan. 13 by the Park County clerk at the county building, he proceeded to meet with his deputies and support staff at the Riverside Inn in Fairplay to swear in his staff and distribute awards for outstanding service and bravery.
Wegener outlined his future plans, which included new equipment and new weapons. He explained that the officers will probably be using new body cams sometime in the future.
The sheriff expects to see continuing successes among the code enforcement team in shutting down illegal pot grows. He also expects to have mental health and first aid training this spring.
