Since Dec. 3, two groups were claiming to be South Park Seniors Inc. legal board of directors, a conflict which was finally resolved in Park County District Court March 4. Judge Stephen A. Groome heard the case.
During the last eight months of 2014, board members started to question if the organization was in violation of state and federal guidelines for the operation of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity.
Some of the guidelines under question included: the lack of financial audits, compliance with food service rules in the Older Americans Act, proper inventory control of donated items, employees’ bonus pay, conforming to IRS Form 990 regulations and individuals making decisions without full board approval.
