At the March 13 meeting of the Colorado State Land Board (SLB), the five commissioners voted unanimously to give Human Movement, Inc. (previously referred to in The Flume as Human Movement Management) a two-year planning lease on the 480-acre McArthur Gulch parcel near Bailey.

HMI is an entertainment company located in Louisville that specializes in novelty 5K races, beer festivals, triathlons and other outdoor events. In 2014, it hosted more than 110 events in the United States, Canada, England and Mexico.

HMIs originally submitted a proposal asking for a recreational lease on the property. Due to public concerns over the proposal and the due diligence of the board, the decision was made to give HMI two years to fulfill certain objectives before the board would consider a recreation lease.
