PC Sheriff’s Office offers safe place for transactions with strangers

An incident in Longmont, Colo., March 18, where a pregnant woman, responding to a Craigslist advertisement for baby clothes, was brutally cut open and her seven-month-old fetus removed, prompted the Park County Sheriff’s Office to encourage people to use caution when conducting transactions arranged with people online.

In light of the attack, Park County Undersheriff Monte Gore issued a press release stating law enforcement agencies across the nation are working on “safe havens” to accommodate buyers and sellers.

Gore announced the Park County Sheriff’s Office will offer its parking lot at 1180 County Road 16, south of Fairplay, for buyers and sellers to use as a safe, public place to complete their purchases.
