FAIRPLAY – On March 18, Park County Public Library Manager Pat Sohmer met with both Senator Kevin Grantham at his office where the Joint Budget Committee meets, as well as with Representative Jim Wilson and his wife, Kristi. Sohmer thanked them for all they do for Park County, presented them with thank you cards from the Boys and Girls Club of South Park, and she outlined the library’s collaborative efforts to improve literacy skills in Park County through an online project that will launch in May (see below).
Sohmer’s goal is to get the word out, an innovative way to boost literacy and cognitive skills is coming to Park County. Representative Wilson introduced Sohmer and the project to the House.
Sohmer was at the Capitol celebrating libraries with the Colorado Association of Libraries and their Leadership Institute of which she is a member. In the hallway Sohmer thanked legislators for their support of the state grants to libraries funding and shared stories of how that funding impacts Park County communities.
