School districts inquire about sales tax possibility for future funding

Park County school district superintendents and school board members met with the county commissioners April 29 to learn if a sales tax might be a possibility for school funding.

Superintendent James Walpole and school board president Chet Lawrence represented the Platte Canyon School district (RE-1).

Superintendent Becky Minnis and school board member Foss Smith represented Park County RE-2 School District.

Smith said Walpole had contacted RE-2 not long ago about the idea of a sales tax ballot question versus a property tax increase.
