Park County Attorney Lee Phillips announced that Colorado Senate Bill 15-288, which gives state and county elected officials salary increases, passed both the Colorado House of Representatives and Senate on May 5.
The announcement was made at the county commissioners’ May 6 work session.
SB 288 states that unless a referendum petition against the increases is filed within 90 days of the adjournment of the General Assembly, the salaries will take effect for all county officials elected after January 2016.
If a petition is filed, the increases will go to the voters on the November 2016 ballot. If approved, the increases will take effect January 2017.
