Beaver Ponds Environmental Education Center is situated on Sacramento Creek Ranch near Fairplay and encompasses an ecological wonderland, dedicated to protecting, preserving and educating people of all ages to become good stewards of the land.

Al and Terry Hershey founded Beaver Ponds in 2010 after moving to Colorado. Although they had careers in the medical device industry and media respectively, their long-term passions were the environment and education.

Kevin Hosman, who is the executive director, spearheads the Hersheys’ vision, aided by a dedicated staff of professionals with varied disciplines that include environmental science, naturopathy and sustainability.

“We have interpretative trails, we have a lot of demonstrations,” Hosman said. “Part of our philosophy is that everything is part of a cycle.”
