Close to a hundred colleagues, friends, parents and students gathered in the Canyon Room at Fitzsimmons Middle School in Bailey May 28 to give a heartfelt thanks to retiring superintendent Dr. James Walpole.
Walpole announced his retirement in a letter Jan. 2 to the Platte Canyon School District, after 17 years of serving the district. A search for a new superintendent was organized and in April, the board of directors selected Dr. Brenda Krage, former assistant superintendent of learning services, Pueblo City School District.
