Platte Canyon School District approves $13,822,031 budget

The Platte Canyon School Board approved the school district’s 2015-2016 budget for $13,822,031 at its monthly meeting June 8. The vote was unanimous.

The basic distribution of the budget breaks down to $10,476,000 for the general fund, nutrition services $285,400, federal fund $434,055, swimming pool $212,000, bond redemption $1,779,344, capital projects $414,641 and student activities $220,591.

The board’s priorities are based on these objectives: maintain the current program of studies and existing extra-curricular programs, maintain approximately the same staff-student ratios, add an additional special education teacher for Fitzsimmons Middle School and Platte Canyon High School, add a part-time health assistant split between FMS and PCHS, and include the salary step increase for teachers and 2 percent increase for others
