Four-year-old Alex Dunlap of Bailey recently reached his goal of reading 1,000 books before kindergarten. Do kids that age really set goals like that for themselves, you ask.
It was a family affair and also a library program. Nonetheless, Alex will be entering kindergarten with a significant reading notch on his belt.
The 1,000 Books Foundation is a Nevada-based organization that promotes reading to newborns, infants, and toddlers and encourages parent and child bonding through reading. It’s a nation-wide movement in which each Park County Library is participating.
“We’re part of a national push to read early to kids and read often,” Bonnie Bickel, Bailey Library branch manager said.
