Bailey Day is more than fete, food and fandango. As the folks congregate in downtown June 27, they are repeating what anthropologists call public rituals. For those that attend, they’re probably not thinking about the social sciences. For them, Bailey Day is just plain fun.
“It’s the 36th anniversary of the original Pioneer Day,” said Lynsday Churchill, Bailey Day event coordinator.
Sponsored by the Platte Canyon Area Chamber of Commerce, the town of Bailey sets aside one day each summer to celebrate a coming together of community. The all day event starts at 10 a.m. with food, artisans and family activities.
The chamber has come up with a number of new activities, while at the same time, retaining most of the events that the public has enjoyed in the past.
