The saying, “we need the moisture,” echoes through Park County every spring. This spring the county got the moisture, lots of it.
“Right now the biggest problem we have is three roads near Fairplay and two roads near Lake George,” said Tammy Crawford, transportation manager for Park County Public Works.
This most recent closure occurred June 14 between Fairplay and Antero Junction. It was also closed at this location temporarily June 8 and 11. At press time, U.S. Highway 285 is still closed.
Crawford said the county is monitoring almost 40 other locations for high water and road conditions.
