The building that houses the Bailey County Store at 149 Main Street in Bailey is 137 years old and has been used as a store, theater, hotel and a post office. Owners Jim and Daphne Myers have now reimagined the store and dedicated it to something that may be older than Bailey and most of its residents – Bigfoot, interchangeably referred to as Sasquatch.
Once again, the store is undergoing a change. It will now be simply, The Sasquatch Outpost. The grand reopening will take place June 27 during Bailey Day 2015.
“The grocery business, we couldn’t make a living at it,” Jim said. “There weren’t enough folks in Bailey who needed enough groceries to make it worth keeping it open.”
