Commissioners approve the first reading of revised marijuana caregiver ordinance
An ordinance strengthening regulation of medical marijuana grown by caregivers passed the first reading by Park County commissioners June 25.
The state legislature this year passed Senate Bill 15-14 limiting caregivers to 36 plants. Park County’s ordinance uses the state limit in the proposed ordinance. The previous ordinance passed in 2012 by Park County had no limit on the number of plants.
The ordinance does not apply to licensed medical or retail cultivation facilities.
Commissioner Mike Brazell said previous laws governing caregivers had loopholes that allowed growth of hundreds of plants by one caregiver.
